Long Island brothers launch canned cocktail company Flocktails

At their dad’s Garden City liquor store, Nick Mangia and his brothers, Anthony and Michael, would sometimes taste samples of the canned cocktails that came in. “We thought, ‘I think we can create something better,’” said Mangia, who grew up in Smithtown.

Their version — a riff on a vodka-spiked cranberry lemonade they’d sometimes sip before playing golf (“to loosen the nerves,” said Mangia, 28) — was called Dirty Birdie, at least at first, as they honed the formula to get it ready for prime time...

Flocking Around

Nearly branded with the name Dirty Birdie, the Mangia brothers trio are experiencing soaring success with their new canned cocktail, Flocktails, a refreshing blend of lemonade, cranberry juice and vodka. During the trademark process, the brothers decided against “Dirty Birdie” as their product name because of a similarly named beer.

“The flamingo represented our brand, in the vibe we were looking for,” Nick Mangia, co-founder of Flocktails said. “It is summer, it is fun, it is silly and has good vibes.”

Nick is one-third of Flocktails along with his brothers, Anthony and Michael.

Mangia Brothers Introduces Long Island-Inspired Canned Cocktail: Cranberry Lemonade

Long Island, N.Y. — FLOCKTAILS first flavor, “Cranberry Lemonade” was inspired by the Mangia brother’s favorite summertime drink the Zippy Cooler, a classic Fire Island drink. Each summer the 3 brothers would go to Ocean Beach and drink their favorite drink. When the pandemic hit and the brothers couldn’t really go anywhere, the one thing the craved was a Zippy and that is how this whole process started.
